Celebrating Our 2012 Teachers of the Year
The Selection Committee is now reading all applications to select the Top Ten Finalists
The MEEF Board of Directors recognized teachers who have dedicated themselves to excellence in the
classroom. These remarkable teachers, nominated by their individual schools, are acknowledged in a variety
of ways throughout the year, including breakfast with the National Teacher of the Year in March.
The year’s recognition culminates with the Teacher of the Year Gala on Thursday, May 3rd, 2012 at the Trade Center, where business and community leaders and other supporters of excellence in education, gather to celebrate and honor some of the most talented and respected teachers of our area. At the Gala, the 2012 MCSD Teacher of the Year will be announced to an expected crowd of 650 public education supporters. The honored teacher will then become a candidate at the state level. Tickets to the Gala can be purchased at the RiverCenter Box Office April 20- April 30 for $50 each.
MEEF is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering educational excellence by focusing on individual
teachers who are innovative and exceptionally effective in their profession. The Foundation has awarded over
$1,500,000 to innovative teachers through financial incentives in the TOTY program, the MEEF Grant program
and the MEEF Endowment Fund.

"Paul is truly born to teach - his enthusiasm and creativity keeps students engaged and involved in their own education. This is not outdated classroom with a teacher lecturing students and simply expecting them to learn. Instead, he utilizes numerous learning strategies to make the students responsible for their own learning - challenging, instructing, questioning, reviewing, assessing, motivating and always urging his students to THINK! The ability to utilize technology - a smart board and the internet - along with a rapid-fire pace of constantly changing lessons - enable Paul Hampton to teach students in the environment in which THEY are best able to learn."
